چکیده

A novel dynamic channel model for on-body wireless communication during walking is proposed. The developed model utilizes a human walking model which provides detailed information on the movement of the human body parts. The diffraction of the signal around the body parts is used to describe the time-varying shadowing effects. Body part movements are also used to estimate the signal fading caused by angular variations of the transmitting and receiving antenna gains. A Rice distribution is used to represent the multipath fading effects caused by objects around the human body. Simulation results of the firstand second-order statistics of the received signal affected by moving body parts for 2.4 GHz signal are presented. To illustrate the capabilities of the developed model, time series were generated and used in system performance calculations. The obtained results give an insight into the potential advantages of link diversity technique in wireless body area networks (WBANs).

Time-Varying Frequency Fading Channel Tracking In OFDM-PLNC System, Using Kalman Filter

Physical-layer network coding (PLNC) has the ability to drastically improve the throughput of multi-source wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on the problem of channel tracking in a Decode-and-Forward (DF) OFDM PLNC system. We proposed a Kalman Filter-based algorithm for tracking the frequency/time fading channel in this system. Tracking of the channel is performed in the t...

The effect of two types of thoracolumbosacral braces on electromyography activity and pain index in patients with low back pain during walking

Aims and background: Low back pain is a common ailment that affects about 80% of the population at some point in their life time. Using a brace is a method to control pain that physiotherapists recommend it. However, the scientific evidence about the effects of different braces in low back pain patients is limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of two thoracol...

Changes in Gait Pattern During Smartphone and Tablet Use

Objectives: There exists no study concerning gait pattern while engaging in dual-task activities on different sizes of mobile devices. The present study aimed to compare gait patterns during normal walking, walking with smartphone use, and walking with tablet use.  Methods: Seventeen healthy female participants with an age range of 19-24 years (mean±SD age: 20.29±1.61 years, weight: 49.82±4.46...

Robust Trajectory Free Model Predictive Control of Biped Robots with Adaptive Gait Length

This paper employs nonlinear disturbance observer (NDO) for robust trajectory-free Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) of biped robots. The NDO is used to reject the additive disturbances caused by parameter uncertainties, unmodeled dynamics, joints friction, and external slow-varying forces acting on the biped robots. In contrary to the slow-varying disturbances, handling sudden pushing ...
